The not forgotten years - Ian Sandy

Since writing this - sadly my good friend and mentor Ian Sandy has passed away. I'm glad I had the chance to show him this and got to tell him how much he meant to me.

My dear friend you will be sadly missed - sleep well x x

This isn't supposed to read like some morbid epitaph, in fact he's very much alive but I figured while im creating these Blogs of memories, a way to discover how the Showman in me came about its important to re visit where this chapter began... back in 1995 at Primrose Valley....

A name just popped up on Facebook, as they frequently do when you have a few minutes and you decide to Facestalk a few old friends... but this name, this man... never ceases to make me smile.

Ian Sandy, my very first Entertainments Manager, back in the days of Primrose Valley. Sure we had to deal with the fly on the wall documentary "Seaside's" but luckily for me I never sat and slagged people off on camera so they left me alone to enjoy what will always be my best season. They say your first seasons always the best, but mine was for the inspiring Manager, who taught me everything and in honesty made me the Entertainer I am today. He was and still is a great inspiration to me, the kindest yet professional man I ever had the privilege to work with.

I remember he never told people off in the conventional way, but had a look that if you messed up, he didn't need to say anything, just gave you a (father like disappointed in you look) and you never messed up again. In fact I think he may of even said "im not annoyed ...just a little disappointed!"
